“Our wounds are often the openings into the best and most beautiful part of us.”
                                    ― David Richo
Living the life we want can seem difficult. We are often hampered in our pursuit of a fulfilling life by internal barriers that feel insurmountable. Barriers that present as addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, codependency, and issues of intimacy and connection with others. Addressing these barriers by identifying the causes and conditions under which they began, how they manifest despite our best efforts at change, and development of coping skills to address these barriers is crucial to the work of therapy. I can help guide you through this process of self discovery and change. This work is challenging but the reward is a life transformed.

My journey began in The Bronx in New York City. I moved from New York to attend college and then served in the military for four years. It was during this time that I had a series of personal challenges that led to my entering recovery from addiction. I have been active in my own personal recovery for over 30 years and this experience continues to inform my work. Therapeutic work is my second career. I spent 20 years in the corporate world in sales and marketing roles. It was my strong desire to help others who had suffered as I had with addiction, as well as have a professional life that aligned with my personal life in recovery, that led to the start of my journey to become a therapist.

I have a Masters Degree in Social Work from UT Arlington. I am a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist and am EMDR trained. I have worked as a therapist at two inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers, a psychiatric mental health outpatient clinic, as well as the private practice arena. In addition to my work at Bluffview Counseling I currently provide trauma therapy part time at a non profit that serves veterans who have PTSD as a result of combat.

I specialize in the treatment of addiction, trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, codependency, love addiction and issues concerning sexual identity and expression. I work with both couples and individuals. As a sex addiction therapist I specialize in the treatment of sex addicts and their partners whose relationships have been damaged by infidelity and betrayal, as well as individuals struggling with compulsive sexual behavior. I use different modalities in my work including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Expressive Writing and Mindfulness. My own experience of change informs the use of spirituality in my work. I take from both Eastern and Western Spiritual traditions in helping clients seeking a spiritual path forward that works and assists in the process of change. Most importantly, I use a collaborative process. The answer to your struggle is within you. Together we can find that answer. I look forward to guiding you on this journey.
