“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves”
                 ― Viktor Frankl
The underlying components of codependency, self-destructive behaviors and addictions can stem from negative core beliefs that are deeply-rooted and eventually make our lives unbearable. These negative core beliefs are implanted in our brains making us believe thoughts such as, “I am not good enough”, “I am unlovable” and can eventually lead t0 troubled relationships, codependency, depression, anxiety, and addiction.

I have lived in Dallas for most of my life and graduated from The University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Communication in 1988. Therapy is my second career. For over ten years, I worked as a meeting and event planner. The challenges I faced with my own negative core belief system, eventually led me to recovery from addiction. My personal journey in recovery has allowed me to discover my own identity and has given me courage to follow my dreams. I received my Master of Social Work from The University of Texas at Arlington with an emphasis in Mental Health and Substance Abuse.

My therapeutic approach is holistic and includes talk therapy, cognitive behavior therapy and solution focused therapy. I believe that successful therapy is built on a safe, accepting, and a mutually respectful, collaborative relationship. My areas of specialty are family of origin, attachment issues and trauma. My training includes work at the Center for Addiction and Recovery Studies and Origins Intensive Inpatient Program. I further enhanced my training by participating in Pia Mellody’s PIT workshop on trauma, family-of-origin, attachment, codependency, carried emotions and negative introjects, and concepts of love addiction and love avoidance. Using my training and my personal life experience, I will help you develop tools that will empower you to change your negative core beliefs, your thought process, and your behaviors. Everyone of us have the right to live our best lives that include self-awareness, purpose, and happiness.

I am a Licensed Master Social Worker and I am supervised by Megan Colt, LCSW-S. She may be contacted at (469) 340-2468.
