“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves”
                 ― Viktor Frankl
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, and as a dedicated therapist, I am committed to supporting individuals through their healing journeys. With extensive training and expertise working with both adults and adolescents, I specialize in addressing a wide range of issues, including betrayal trauma, problematic sexual behavior, relationship challenges, trauma, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, mental health concerns, and developing a sense of wellness and well-being. My approach is rooted in empathy and respect, recognizing the unique struggles each person faces. Whether you are dealing with past traumas, current struggles, or future uncertainties, I am here to provide a safe and supportive environment to explore and overcome these challenges.

As a young adult, my primary interests were in philosophy and politics. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Mathematics from Texas A&M University-Commerce over two decades ago. During my college years, I embarked on the difficult journey of awakening to the painful dynamics of addicted and abusive family systems. Throughout this time, I taught and tutored high school mathematics, homeschooled my four children, and successfully ran a birth and wedding photography business while also engaging in my own healing journey. Through these experiences, I have gained profound insights into the complexities of healing traumas and wounds that often entangle us in isolating, painful, or destructive patterns and beliefs. These varied roles have enriched my understanding of human resilience and the transformative power of healing.

Inspired by my own recovery and healing journey, I went on to earn my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from East Texas A&M University. Working at the Mesquite ISD CARE Clinic, I had the opportunity to work with adolescents and adults facing a wide range of mental health issues, including betrayal trauma, substance use, PTSD, complex PTSD, domestic violence, depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.

Harville Hendrix’s said, "We are born in relationship, we are wounded in relationship, and we can be healed in relationship."  My approach to counseling is largely based on the healing power of relationships, both with self and others. Taking into consideration the historical context of current issues, I integrate techniques from cognitive, emotion-focused, and experiential therapies as necessary. I have a strong foundation in trauma-informed modalities and have received training in Internal Family Systems and EMDR. I am passionate about working with adolescents, addressing their unique challenges and supporting their emotional and mental development.

My training and certifications include:
  • National Certified Counselor, NBCC
  • Certified Sex Addiction Therapist Candidate, CSAT
  • Certified Clinical Partner Specialist Candidate, CCPS
  • Certified Connected Recovery Disclosure Specialist
  • EMDR trained, EMDR International Association
